CALLING ALL WRITERS! Georgia McBride Media Group is hosting an open call for submissions across its business lines! This means writers seeking literary agency representation will be able to submit to our agency and writers without agents seeking to be published will be able to submit their work(s) to our Month9Books and Swoon Romance imprints.
We are open to submissions between September 1st and September 30th, 2026!
Publication Submissions
We want to discover writers whose books we can publish at Swoon Romance and Month9Books. See details below of what we’re seeking!
Our focus is on contemporary romance but we are open to grounded fantasy, paranormal romance, Romantasy, and horror. We are NOT interested in Science Fiction at the moment.
Relationships to include representation across all possible spectrums. Love is LOVE.
All stories MUST be driven by a romantic relationship–either pursuing one, avoiding one, getting out of one, or keeping one.
Word count should be at least 65,000 and not more than 75,000 for contemporary romance. All variants of fantasy should be at least 80,000 words and not more than 95,000 words.
All spice levels will be considered with the exception of Young Adult. For Young Adult, ABSOLUTELY NO SPICE OR ONSCREEN ADULT ACTS.
Ideally, we want to read Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult Romance with the below themes:

Our focus at Month9Books is on fantasy but we are open to grounded or urban fantasy, paranormal, supernatural, fantasy-adventure, shifters, creatures, Romantasy, and horror. We are NOT interested in Science Fiction at the moment.
Relationships to include representation across all possible races, ethnic groups, social class, and spectrums. Love is LOVE.
All Young Adult stories MUST be driven by a romantic relationship–either pursuing one, avoiding one, getting out of one, or keeping one. All Middle Grade should also center around a central relationship. For example, parent-child, friends and enemies, creatures + humans, etc. NO ROMANCE IN MIDDLE GRADE. Crushes are okay.
Both Middle Grade and Young Adult should focus on the nuances and challenges of coming of age, growing up, new and or first experiences, self exploration, learning lessons, individual growth, navigating challenges, and or finding oneself.
Word count should be at least 50,000 and not more than 70,000 for Middle Grade and at least 60,000 for Young Adult but not more than 80,000.
ABSOLUTELY NO SPICE OR ONSCREEN ADULT ACTS. Language should align with that allowed in PG 13+ movies.
Ideally, we want to read fantasy-based Middle Grade and Young Adult with the below themes:

Submissions Information
Submissions will close on September 30, 2026 at 11PM EST. Decisions will be made and writers will be notified by February 28, 2027.
We cannot provide feedback for all submissions. However, some writers may receive written feedback at our discretion.
How to Submit
Submit your manuscript through our submissions form. Your submission must contain the following:

A COVER PAGE with your name matched to the name you listed, your email address matched to the email you listed, the word count of the FULL/FINISHED manuscript, and a 3-4 line description of the book.

PLEASE number the pages and chapters in the manuscript.

Please put your name, your email address and the manuscript title as a header on each page of the manuscript.
Submissions not formatted as per the above will be rejected.
Submissions FAQ
Can I submit to more than one imprint at a time?
Yes. Please make sure all submissions are for completed works and be sure to follow the instructions for each.
Can I submit to your agency and publishing imprints simultaneously?
Yes. However, we will be considering manuscripts across the business including for possible agency representation, publishing, and development for film/TV. Therefore, we will decide where your manuscript best fits and potentially make you an offer accordingly.
If I already have an agent, can my agent submit to you during the open call?
No. This open call is specifically for unrepresented writers.
How will I know if you received my submission(s)?
You will be notified via email and also be able to see the status of your works in your submissions portal.
How long will it take for you to make a decision about my submission?
Our consideration and decision timeframes range from near immediate to up to 12 weeks.
Do your publishing imprints offer advances?
Yes.
Do you publish books in print?
Yes. Swoon Romance is a digital-first imprint. Print is at our sole discretion and based on performance.
